Internal packaging

 

The inner packaging provides protection for the goods during the distribution process. A good inner packaging must be able to protect the product from shocks and vibrations, and then return to its original shape to act as a shock absorber again. There are a number of internal packaging materials and padding systems that need to be evaluated before shipping a package depending on the type of goods to be shipped.

 

 Air Bubble Plastic Sheets

Packaging material consisting of air bubbles that are enclosed between two sheets of polyethylene sealed together. This process ensures that the air bubbles act as impact protection padding. The encapsulated air provides good protection for light items, is flexible and can wrap products of virtually any shape and size. This type of padding should not be used to pack heavy products. If air bubble wrap sheets are used, multiple layers must be used to provide protection for the entire product, including corners and edges.

 Foamed polyethylene sheets

Lightweight, soft and elastic sheet foam that offers excellent surface protection and cushioning properties. Ideal for protecting lighter items.

 

 Inflatable packaging

Inflatable packaging uses air pressure to protect products and keep them in the container. Extreme climatic conditions can change the amount of air pressure in the bags. In conditions of intense cold, the volume of air will decrease, causing more space inside the pack and increasing the risk of damage to the product. Extreme heat conditions will cause the expansion of the bags, which can cause stresses on the closures of the container.

 

 Moldable foam

Mouldable foam bearings are formed by a chemical mixture that expands and forms a protective mold around the object. The moldable foam forms an envelope around any type of product, reinforces the corners, protects the edges and is useful when padding is required. For maximum effectiveness, the mouldable foam must be evenly distributed over the products. Otherwise, it will not protect the product. Choose the density of foam that suits the type of packaging, which can range from filling empty spaces to high-performance padding.

 

 Packing paper

Packing paper (not news or magazine paper) is crumpled to fill the empty space in a pack containing medium to light weight items that are not fragile. The wrapping paper must be crumpled tightly and each item must be wrapped with at least 5 cm of paper. Make sure that the layer of wrapping paper is at least 10 cm thick on all six sides of the box.

 

 

 Corrugated cardboard

Two or more layers of single or double corrugated cardboard can be laminated together to form blocks or cushioning pads for padding. These cushions can be used to form a protective shield between the product and the container. Corrugated cardboard cushioning pads are best suited for heavy, non-fragile or semi-fragile products. Corrugated board can be shaped to form compartments, thicknesses, partitions and other packaging accessories to protect semi-brittle or non-fragile products and increase the strength of the container.

 

 Expanded foam (EPS) / Expanded polyethylene (PE) / Expanded polyurethane (PU)


EPS is a lightweight, low-cost, mouldable foam with minimal impact resistance. EPS is often designed with ribs that compress on impact, returning to their original shape. It is not as elastic as other foams such as polyethylene and polyurethane. EPS is particularly suitable for less fragile shipments. PE is a foam with superior shock-absorbing and vibration-absorbing properties that make it suitable for filling valuable or fragile items. PU is a light and flexible foam, more suitable for light weights, offering good elasticity and shock absorption. The E-shaped crisps for filling the necks cushion and absorb shock and vibration to ensure protection during transport.
