In your eBay Delivery account there are several features that will help you to simplify and automatise the process when you import shipments from different platforms.
Among these features, you are able to import orders with a CSV file. Please see below for some useful information and steps to follow, in case you experience any issues while importing your shipments from your CSV file.
- Split text into different columns
- Do not delete columns
- Check the Postcode format
- Check the insurance column
- Use a point to separate decimals
Split text into different columns
In order to simplify the document view, we strongly recommend to split it into columns. See below for instructions:
- Select the first column, by clicking on the "A" on the top left.
- On the top left, select Data. Then click Text to columns.
- A new window will be automatically displayed. Select Delimited, then click Next.
- Under Delimiters, select tick the box only for Comma and Space. Click Next.
- In the last step, click on Finish.
- Your CSV file will be now displayed in columns.
For more information about splitting text into different columns in Excel, please check this page.
Do not delete columns
Please leave the CSV file as it is, without deleting information. If you delete any data included in the file, the importing process of your order might be affected, causing issues.
Check the Postcode format
There are several postcodes starting with a 0 (zero), but if in the CSV file the column format is set on Number, Excel will automatically delete the zero, as it wouldn't have any value if we put it at the beginning. For example, since the postcode for Rome is 00100, it'll be considered as "100", causing an issue while importing your orders.
To fix this issue in your file, please follow these steps:
- Select the columns or the cells you would like to format.
- Right click on your mouse, then select Format cells.
- In the dialogue box, under Category, select Special, then choose Zip Code or Zip Code + 4.
- Click Apply.
- Postcode will be automatically displayed on your file.
For more information about postcode formatting, please check this page.
Check the insurance column
In the Insurance column, indicate yes if you want to purchase extra protection, or no if you do not. If, instead, these cells are empty or including different information, the whole importing flow might be negatively affected. For this reason, make sure the correct information is displayed.
Use a point to separate decimals
For decimals, the separator must be a point rather than a comma. For example, if weight is displayed as 1,5kg, we need to change it to 1.5kg.
For more information on how to change the character used to separate decimals, check this page.
Lastly, please don't forget to save your file and try to import your orders again. If you are still experiencing any issues, please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Support, by clicking Contact us now at the bottom of this page.
