If you have purchased a Drop off Point shipment, it is important that you follow the instructions in this guide, to avoid any problems during the process and to ensure that your parcel arrives smoothly at its destination.
First, check that the service you have purchased is indeed a drop off service, which means that you can leave your parcel at a carrier's office, ParcelShop or carrier's locker.
You can check this from your eBay Delivery account by clicking Ready for shipping in the left navigation menu. Then, locate the shipment you want to check and click See details. If the service supports Drop off, you will see all the related information in the Drop-off point section.
Important
If you have purchased a door-to-door service (home collection and delivery), please note that this service does not allow you to drop off your parcel at offices, ParcelShops or lockers. If you prefer a service that allows you to drop off at these locations, you will need to cancel the shipment and purchase a new one that includes this option.
Drop off at an office/ParcelShop
-
Find and choose the office/ParcelShop where you will drop off the parcel.
- You can drop off the goods at any authorised office/ParcelShop of the carrier, at the time and date that best suits you.
- Check the location of the offices/ParcelShops on the carrier's website or access to the list of eBay Delivery carriers, select the one you have chosen for your shipment and check the information available about the drop off points.
- Before you go, please confirm the opening hours and availability of parcel reception.
-
Confirm that the weight and dimensions of the parcel are correct.
- On arrival at the office/ParcelShop, the staff will check the dimensions of the parcel before accepting it.
- If they find any discrepancy with what was stated when the shipment was purchased, they will not accept it. If they do, the carrier may apply additional charges, which will be invoiced to the person who finalised the order
-
Print the shipping label.
- Verify that the sender and recipient contact details are correct. This information will allow the recipient to receive notifications via SMS or email when: the parcel has been dropped off, is available for pick up (in Pick up Point shipments) or cannot be delivered due to an incident. Also, if the parcel is returned to the sender, it will be sent to the office corresponding to the postcode of origin and you will receive a notification to pick it up.
-
Attach the shipping label to the parcel.
- Fix it with enough packing tape to avoid it coming off, but do not cover the barcode, as this may make it difficult to scan.
- Without the label, the goods will not be accepted by office/ParcelShop staff.
-
Go to the office/ParcelShop to drop off the parcel.
- Make sure to go within the opening hours and reception of goods.
- Hand over the goods to the staff so they can process them and send them to their destination.
-
Get the proof of drop off.
- Ask the staff at the office/ParcelShop for a drop off receipt. It is essential that you request it, this document is the proof that they have received and taken care of your parcel.
Drop off at a locker
-
Find and choose the locker where you will drop off the parcel.
- You can drop off the goods at any locker of the carrier, at the time and date that best suits you.
- Check the location of the locker on the carrier's website or access to the list of eBay Delivery carriers, select the one you have selected for your shipment and check the information available about the drop off points.
- Before you go, please confirm the opening hours and availability of parcel reception.
-
Confirm that the weight and dimensions of the parcel are correct.
- If the dimensions do not match those declared during the purchase process, the parcel will not enter into the locker and you will not be able to complete the shipment.
- If during the audit process at the carrier's warehouses any discrepancy is detected between the weight and/or dimensions of the parcel and those declared when purchasing the shipment, additional charges may be applied which will be invoiced to the person who finalised the order.
-
Print the shipping label.
-
Attach the shipping label on the parcel.
- Fix it with enough packing tape to avoid it coming off, but do not cover the barcode, as this may make it difficult to scan.
- If you leave the parcel in the locker without the appropriate shipping label, you do so at your own risk, as the traceability of the shipment could be lost, increasing the risk of loss or crossed merchandise.
-
Go to the locker to drop off the parcel.
- Make sure to go within the opening hours and reception of goods.
- Follow the carrier's instructions to open the locker.
- Once the locker is open, place the parcel inside and ensure that it is properly closed.
- Confirm that the parcel has been properly deposited. This can be done by a notification on the locker screen or by an email or SMS confirmation.
-
Try to obtain a proof of drop off.
- Some lockers offer a proof or receipt of deposit, which can be printed or digitally presented (SMS, email, etc.). If the locker where you have left the parcel has this option available, it is essential that you request it. Remember that this document is the proof that the carrier has received and taken care of your parcel.
